Oral-B Cross Action Electric Toothbrush Replacement Brush Heads Review
The advice given by dentists is you should change your toothbrush every three months, and as applied to electric toothbrushes that means replacing the brush head. If you use Oral-B's Cross Action brush head, then this the one you need.
Oral-B Cross Action Electric Toothbrush Replacement Brush Heads
Except for one or two exceptions, whenever you buy an Oral-B electric toothbrush it is the Cross Action brush head which comes as the default one. This indicates that it has been designed to suit the teeth brushing needs of the vast majority of users and, given how popular Oral-B's electric toothbrush range is, this particular brush head must take some of the credit for that.
The design of the product has been modified since it was first released, with this one being slightly smaller than the previous version, which has proved to be popular with some, and unpopular with others. Although this particular one is white in color, it is possible to purchase it in black so that it matches the color of Oral-B's black electric toothbrushes.
Who is this product for?
If you have been using an Oral-B electric toothbrush then it is likely that you will have already used a Cross Action brush head, which as we explained, is the standard brush head supplied with almost all their range. If you are satisfied with the Cross Action and see no reason to change, then this is an ideal product for you to have three replacements available when required.
Another reason for purchasing could be if you and your partner do not see the need to have separate electric toothbrushes, but obviously do not want to brush your teeth with the same brush head. Buying one or more of the three-pack of Cross Action brush heads will allow each of you to use your individual brush head when using the electric toothbrush to brush your teeth.
This is one of the easier ones to outline given that in this instance, each purchase comes with a set of three Oral-B Cross Action brush heads. The packaging is relatively small and thin, so it could easily fit through a mail slot.
Overview of features
If you look closely at the Cross Action brush head, you will see that it has three specific areas. Around the outside, there is a ring of sixteen clusters of bristles which alternate white and light blue. The blue bristles serve a double role, as it is these that begin to change their color to white when the brush head is heading towards needing to be replaced.
Moving inwards there are eight further clusters of bristles, and in the middle, you will see two white bristle clusters. Across the entire brush head, the bristle clusters are set at slightly different heights to provide enhanced cleaning of teeth which are obviously not flat, but shaped and curved.
Another feature of the bristles is that they are cut at 16° angles on their top edge. This enhances their ability to remove plaque, from your gum line, and your teeth.
How to Use It
One of the great features of Oral-B's entire brush head range is that they are extremely easy to remove from the toothbrush and every bit as easy to replace on it. To remove the old brush head simply grip it with your hand and give it a sharp pull. It should separate from the toothbrush without much force required.
The only reason it might prove more difficult than normal if there is a build-up of dental 'gunk' such as dried toothpaste around its base. If so, try to scrape away the gunk, or run some hot water over it, to clean it away.
To attach the replacement brush head on the toothbrush simply place the base just over the oscillator spike and then push the brush on until it clicks into position.
- Bristles cut at 16° to remove plaque
- Ideal for normal brushing
- Center brushes give focused cleaning
- Indicator bristles show replacement due
- Bristles too hard for some users
If you are using an Oral-B electric toothbrush then you have a choice of several alternatives to the Cross Action brush head. They may not be to replace it completely, but rather to enhance your brushing regime by using it in conjunction with it. With that in mind you might want to consider using the '3D White' Oral-B brush head.
It has been specifically designed to provide a way of removing stains from the surface of teeth. It uses a special cup-shaped cleaner in the center which can help whiten teeth by getting rid of stains caused by the likes of coffee. They can be purchased in packs of three and the price is usually about the same as a pack of three Cross Action brush heads.
The Oral-B Cross Action brush head provides a teeth cleaning solution that straddles the bristle firmness that you would find on normal toothbrushes, and that you find from hard ones. This tends to be the range that most people find comfortable.
