Waterpik WP-560 Portable Rechargeable Water Flosser

Our first cordless water flosser is from Waterpik, who have a worldwide reputation for producing a range of top-quality oral hygiene products, including the WP-560 model which is a top-selling and award-winning product.

Review

While we review lots excellent products, not many of them have actually won awards within their industry, but the WP-560 water flosser has. It received the 'Seal of Acceptance' from no less an organization than the American Dental Association and was the first water flosser ever to do so.

First, let's look at its portability as being a cordless water flosser, that is one of its main functions. In terms of its size, it does seem bigger than some of the images we've seen of it ... or maybe the person holding it had small hands!

Even so, it is still only 9 inches in length and weighs less than 24 ounces, so it is certainly small and light enough to fit into toiletry or overnight bag. It even comes with its own microfiber travel bag, which very few other cordless water flossers give you.

Cleaning is achieved via the water jet which you use at three different settings — Low, Medium and High. To help further you have a choice of interchangeable tips which can be fitted to the nozzle and rotated 360° as you clean. There's 2 standard tips, 1 orthodontic which is ideal for those with braces, and a tip which aids the removal of plaque.

Philips Sonicare AirFloss Rechargeable Electric Flosser

If you dislike products with more bells and whistles than features that actually help, then you'll love the Philips Sonicare with its simplistic, uncluttered design that helps you get your teeth super-clean.

Review

This product might not win any prizes for style, but then again when it comes to oral health and hygiene results are what count. The Philips Sonicare water flosser certainly scores with a water spray that is capable of removing food particles and five times as much plaque as you would with normal brushing.

One of the reasons it can do so is that you are not limited to simply filling it with water and spraying your teeth. You can also use mouthwash, and as some mouthwashes have advanced ingredients to support healthy teeth and gums, then they are going to be even more healthy than they would be with a cordless flosser that uses only water.

The process for using it very simple — point and spray. There's no need to choose which pressure you need or mess about with interchangeable tips. All you do is point the nozzle tip at your teeth and spray for about 30 seconds until the flosser has done its work.

Being cordless, this obviously uses a sealed battery to power it, and all you need do to charge it is to place the flosser on its charging base. A green light will flash as it is charging, and once fully charged it will stay lit. The battery should last up to 14 days on a full charge, and when it is low, and needing to be charged, the indicator will flash yellow.

PROS

  • check
    Very easy to use
  • check
    Can be used with mouthwash
  • check
    Battery low indicator light
  • check
    Cleaning routine only 30 seconds

    2-year manufacturer's warranty

CONS

  • Creates excessive spray
  • No flossing options

We now come to a cordless water flosser that utilizes electronics and microchip technology, with the end result being a product which offers users some excellent control options.

Review

With the focus on these reviews being cordless water flossers, let's look first at how this one shapes up. It is less than 8 inches in length, and thus it is certainly portable and ideal if you wish to floss whenever you go on a business trip or vacation, for example. It is also IPX-7 waterproof rated so it can be used in the shower.

As for powering it, you have a rechargeable battery that is simply exceptional in terms of how long it will last between charges. The manufacturer states up to 25 days which is awesome, but there are some customers who have confirmed theirs lasted even longer than that.

It comes with a USB charging cable, but no adapter so it will need to be charged via a USB power adapter, or computer with a USB charging port.

Where this water flosser really excels is in terms of its cleaning controls. Unlike others that have 3 or worse, no options, this has four, plus it has a memory function which allows you to have it set to your favorite setting. The first thing we should point out is the excellent reputation Zerhunt have for producing dental hygiene equipment of all types and this one is no exception. It is obviously cordless and portable so you can take it with you and use on business trips and vacations. The fact that a single battery charge can last you up to 20 days which takes away the concern about not being able to use it on the road because you have no charger with you.

Review

With this being made by Panasonic, and with their reputation innovative technology we were keen to see what they could possibly do with a cordless water flosser that would make theirs somewhat unique. Well, what they have done is make this water flosser collapsible. This means you can literally have in your purse, bag or pocket, and ready to use whenever you need to, including after every meal.

For a cordless flosser, it has a reasonably sized reservoir which holds 165ml of water, and this is filled using the filling hole on the side, although we must admit it can be problematic trying to empty it when you want to store it away.

Cleaning options include two settings which you won't be surprised to know are 'High,' for normal flossing, and 'Low' for those who prefer a gentler floss or may have sensitive teeth and gums.

This flosser is cordless however it does not have its own internal rechargeable battery. This means you need to purchase AA batteries to use it. However, you could use rechargeable AAs which would certainly reduce the long-term costs of battery replacements.
